This course offers a studio focus art credit that builds on foundations explored in Grade 9, which may be taken in addition to the standard Grade 10 AVI art course or as a replacement. This course focuses on technical processes as they are applied to specific projects and materials based on students personal themes and concepts. A section on design concepts is followed by three studio focus areas, which are printmaking, sculpture and painting and drawing. There is an emphasis on elements and principles of design, sketchbooks, drawing from imagination and observation, art history, talking and writing about art, critique and analysis with a new emphasis on revision.
